BRL 100 and STEK: what the auditor wants to see.
In the Netherlands, BRL 100 is the certification a refrigeration company needs by law. The Dutch STEK quality
mark builds on it, with its own requirements for quality and competence. In both you have to show that your
measuring equipment is calibrated and that your cylinder records add up. In Fikst you no longer need a
spreadsheet for that.
The Dutch BRL 100 scheme is on version 3.0, since 31 August 2026.
-
Cylinder and measuring instrument on the work order
Your technician records topping up and recovering refrigerant on his phone, with the quantity and the cylinder. For a leak test, pressure test or evacuation he also chooses the measuring instrument. If it is past its calibration date, he sees that straight away.
-
The cylinder card
Every cylinder has a running series of weighings, from purchase to disposal, in whole grams. Each entry builds on the one before. A correction is a new entry; changing or deleting is not possible.
-
The tool register
For each tool you see who has it and when it is due for calibration again. A pressure gauge and a vacuum gauge every twenty-four months, a thermometer, scale and leak detector every twelve.
-
Certificates and leak check certificates
Personal and company certificates are recorded with their expiry date. Schedule a technician with an expired certificate and the planning tells you. If the person doing the job has no valid certificate on the day itself, Fikst warns you, or only saves the F-gas activity with a certified colleague on it, if you choose that. A leak check certificate is created as a PDF, with the CO2 equivalent on it.
The calibration intervals and the rules of the cylinder card are in the code of Fikst, with the
clause from BRL 100 alongside. More on the page about F-gases. What changes with
version 3.0 is in the article about BRL 100 version 3.0.
the labour market/
Wij Techniek, the Dutch employers’ organisation for the installation sector, expects that
between 2025 and 2029 the whole Dutch technical installation sector will gain 121,000 people and lose 118,000.
That is about the whole sector, and refrigeration is part of it. So almost as many people leave as join. What
is in someone’s head often walks out of the door; in Fikst it stays with the customer and the job. And whoever
joins the van: your technicians do not count in the price, you pay per office user.
